Rare technology even in the global market Officially revealed at GDC 2024 with pre-orders now open Delivers real-time, high-quality motion capture — no extra equipment required

MOVIN unveiled its first product, MOVIN TRACIN, and began accepting pre-orders at the world’s largest developer conference, GDC 2024, held in San Francisco, USA, starting on March 20.

The launch came just three months after MOVIN received investment from Naver D2SF and others. The company has developed a solution that captures high-quality motion in real time without any external equipment, a feat considered rare even in the global market.

MOVIN, a real-time free-body motion capture startup led by CEO Byeoli Choi, participated in the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2024, held from March 20 to 22, where it revealed TRACIN for the first time.

GDC, held annually in San Francisco, is the largest game developer conference in the world, showcasing the latest development tools and technologies in the gaming and content sectors. Major global tech companies such as NVIDIA, Google, Oculus, Sony, and Epic Games, along with numerous startups, took part in the event to introduce new technologies and products.

Debut at a Global Developer Conference

The newly revealed product MOVIN TRACIN is a real-time free-body motion capture solution capable of capturing high-quality motion without requiring any physical equipment.

The system consists of a single LiDAR camera and a PC application, and it is offered in two models depending on the capture range and number of people. In addition to full-body motion capture, it also provides extended features such as facial tracking, finger capture, and motion retargeting.

While many companies have attempted markerless or suit-free motion capture, most have struggled with performance limitations, making it difficult to commercialize such systems.

Overcoming Conventional Limits of Motion Capture with LiDAR

MOVIN’s TRACIN overcomes these limitations by utilizing LiDAR sensors, achieving the trifecta of free-body, real-time, and high-quality motion capture.

With its debut at GDC 2024, MOVIN has officially introduced TRACIN to the global market and begun accepting pre-orders. At the event, the product received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with visitors calling it “the arrival of a new rookie,” “the most innovative booth at GDC 2024,” and “even better performance than expected.” The company plans to begin first shipments this August.

CEO Byeoli Choi commented, “Even before the official launch, we were attracting strong interest from companies in film, animation, and gaming due to our ability to deliver high-quality real-time motion capture.”

She added, “We’re currently in discussions with potential partners in areas such as interactive content, live commerce, and live streaming, and we intend to solidify our presence on the global stage through this GDC showcase.”

Yang Sang-hwan, Head of Naver D2SF, which invested in MOVIN, stated, “MOVIN has demonstrated rare and differentiated technology even by global standards. The team has grown rapidly, unveiling their first product just six months after investment. We expect them to continue to scale quickly and capture the market.”
